Drinking age… not changed back :(

God dammit how stupid can you get. We give kids the right to buy alcohol and then we scratch our heads like complete douche bags and wonder why there are so many problems relating to kids drinking. Quite frankly I don’t care about some 19 year olds supposed “right” to have a glass of wine – I’m much more concerned about the mess our society is in. I think rather then being PC as usual we should get harsh and get real and sort these little buggers out.

So put the drinking age back up and hit em where it hurts. The 19 year olds that want to have an oh I’m so “sophisticated” glass of red then they can have one with mummy and daddy for all I care.

Not only do I think that teenagers are not mentally equipped to handle alcohol but I cant stand the little schmucks hanging around at dance parties. Sigh… I suppose if it means going to private parties and parties that have an over 20 bias I’m cool with that.
Of course that does not fix the reason why these punks are binge drinking but it does help mitigate it (of course it helps it all helps – help being the operative word okay). Fixing the binge drinking youth of today is something I’m not sure how to fix – but I’d start at schools and schooling and I’d be putting more heat on parents.

good anti monopolistic reading material

I read this quote today online and it sums up the way I feel about Microsoft better then anything I think I’ve heard before. And I’ve heard a lot before.

“…The most important factor to look at is job satisfaction. Do you want to work for a company that is constantly defending its position against smaller more creative companies or a company that is creating the future internet? Microsoft buys competitors then kills the product. Google buys competitors, funds them and makes them better than they could have been on their own.”

If that got your juices flowing then browse over to roughly drafed dot com and read their Why Microsoft Can’t Compete With iTunes article.

iMad!!!!!

Apple suck the big kahoona on this one. I plugged my ipod nano into my mac and now it no longer apears on my pc laptop. Apprently the only way to fix this is by restarting my ipod which is their “nice” way of saying “sorry you are stuffed, its format time!!!”

This is the first negative experiance I’ve had with Appleware and I must say I’m very disapointed.

Dan’s free Virus & Spam solution

When people tell me they have funny pop up windows opening, or that they think they their computer has been compromised I normally tell them that they need to download and install the following software.

Rather then duplicating this email again and again I am posting my own little arsenal of anti spam/virus software as follows so that you can see what the pro’s do ;)

If you are using a PC I strongly recommend using Microsoft’s own programme called Windows AntiSpyware.

If you want some good free anti virus software I’d recommend using AVG Free Edition.

Both of these pieces of software (if kept up to date) should do the job. They are all I use now.

I’d also recommend that you stop using Internet Explorer and Outlook. You should be using Thunderbird and Firefox.

SOS – Save City Centre Sport

Originally, the Event’s Centre held almost all the indoor sport at Queen’s Wharf but it (and Wellington’s) success in attracting more and more major events which require substantial set-up and take down has meant that Shed 1 and, when available, Shed 6, are now the only indoor team sports facilities in walking distance of the CBD, Mt Victoria and other central areas….

Okay what am I doing. I’m writing this because I am fundamentally opposed to building another ugly tacky poor designed building in Wellington. I’m talking about the proposed Hilton Hotel on our waterfront. It would seem as though that most people don’t like it, and don’t want it but there are a few counsellors that support the development of the Hilton Hotel. I’m guessing here that these particular black holes of people:

- don’t play any sport
- stand to financially gain themselves
- don’t care about the sea bed and the future generation of kiwi kids

In fact they are probably excited about sitting in another wanky bar, drinking a glass of wanky red wine, and telling everybody else how fantastically wanky they are!

Got to go!!! Spooks is back on TV!!!!!
