Soylent Geen

Amber and I saw this great classic on the weekend, a Film has not had me this engrossed in years!!!

PLOT: It’s the year 2022… People are still the same. They’ll do anything to get what they need. And they need SOYLENT GREEN. In an overpopulated futuristic Earth, a New York police detective finds himself marked for murder by government agents when he gets too close to a bizarre state secret involving the origins of a revolutionary and needed new foodstuff.

Lest we forget

Red asked me if I knew about Anzac day and why we have it. I said ‘yeah sure, a whole lot of kiwi’s, Australians, and fellow Brits got massacred at gallipoli’. Red gave me one of his philosophical smiles and said yeah. And words to the effect of ‘I wonder how many people know that’, some people might say heaps of people know, and of course lots do. But I think those people mistook the underlying question which I understand to be, will people forget? are we forgetting? for how many future generations will we remember? For how many people is it just a day off work without any meaning?

Last year I went to the Eastbourne Anzac parade and it was nice, what shocked me was that there was only one or two old timers who fought in that war still alive from Eastbourne. Today I realised that in another 10 or 20 years there wont be any one left from that era who saw those things. Lest we forget.
