Carla Scott was an old school friend. Carla was always a very kind person from what I can remember. Carla is the first school friend that I am aware of who has passed away. Her death was a simple death, said her father. I pray that there are more simple deaths for there will always be more death.
The two most clear memories of Carla are sleeping in the same sleeping bag with her on a youth group camp, and secondly meeting her in a petrol station where she served me – I remember being quite taken by surprise and as a result didnt say much, Now I wish that I had.
It was nice to see old faces at the Funeral – Joe, Herminie, Ant, Jules, Belinda, Cathy, and others. Go in peace Carla.
Just wanted to also mention that the prayer on the back of the funeral card was the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi – my favourite prayer, the prayer I tried to recite at Gordon’s (my graddad) Funeral, and the prayer I couldnt quite say at Church with Amber the day Carol (my gran) had a stroke.
The Prayer is:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace,
Where there is hatred, let me so love,
Where there is injury, pardon,
where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
where there is sadness, joy,
Oh Divine Master, grant,
that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that we receive,
But it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Theres wisdom in that for all people.

I only got the news yesterday about Carla’s passing. Like you Dan, I pretty much grew up with her at Wadestown School.
I want to say how totally shocked I am to hear of this tragedy. I am so deeply saddened and right now am struggling to get my head around it. What is also hard to believe is that it happened over a year ago and I’ve only just found out.
Carla I will never forget you. I remember you telling me of your car crash ordeal, right then I always knew you were a battler and lived life to the extreme.
You were the sweetest person, and always so friendly to me even in my bratty schoolkid days. My childhood was full of great memories and you were a distinct part of them.
Rest In Peace Carla.
Love,
Daniel Cottle
Hi,
I just wanted to thank you all for your kind words about Carla. She was a wonderful big sister and friend, and I will miss her always. As the inquest approaches old feelings about the accident are dredged up again, but will finally be put to rest.
Thankyou
Justina

Today is Carla’s birthday so I googled her name just see what would happen. I was warmed and comforted by the remarks on this site from her old school friends.
I hope you are all well and happy – as she would have wanted for you.
