Campaign to Elect Nobody 2004/2005

For those that are interested:

I am looking to launch a “Campaign to Elect Nobody 2004/2005″

My initial focus will be to try and contest the local body election this year and build momentum to go national in the general elections 2005.

How does it work?

Well essentially it is a an exercise in culture jamming.

Surely by now we all know that whoever claims a mandate with the most votes in our strange concept of democracy gets to implement the policies written by multi-national corporations. Unelected ‘stupid white men’

Of course this mandate always represents less than 50% of those who vote. Now lets also consider that usually only 85% of registered voters vote and that since many disenchanted citizens dont bother to register, we dont get a very democratic representation at all! ‘

Those who wish to register a protest vote can choose between McGillicuddy type parties and oddball independents. This in no way denegrates the efforts of these candidates, it just serves to offer a alternative that can attract the disillusioned. Given the wide range of needs the population expects from elected officials, obviously nobody has a policy that can cater to them all.

Shall I repeat the last part of that sentence? “obviously nobody has a policy that can cater to them all.”

See how it works! Nobody can deliver every promise made!

What I hope to elicit from you is support in any form. However, what can be of most use is to start noticing when politicians make statements citing nobody. eg “Well nobody is capable of achieving …….” Gotcha !!! There is an abundance of this stuff going on all the time … whenever you see it please copy it back to me to start building a dossier.

The Wallabies called captain Eales “Nobody” because nobody’s perfect; the song tells us Nobody Does it Better; however I think the bottom line in this Campaign is NOBODY CARES!

  1. Funny, I’ll vote for nobody.. or actually, everybody. I think that government should be run by the people, using the internet, just run a vote on EVERY issue, with a week to talk about it before voting.

  2. well a guy over here got a seat in the council ( i know council and not parliment ) with only 2 votes ??? how does that work

speakling off stupid white men … hope u have read michael moore books and seen his movies … worth a gander

  3. oh yeah i forgot to add how easy it was to maliplate online voting .. i mean who takes notice of newspapers poles or what tv news tell u … its how they report or what there agenda is …
like over here there is 2 papers … 1 is for howard the other is against … they conduct the same pole but u get 2 different results … whats going on here ???

  4. Brilliant. I think that would be a wonderful campaign over here in the US, too. It’s apparent that, out of all the candidates on the ballot, Nobody is really qualified.
